Meet Bob the Butcher

We’d like to introduce the newest addition to the Freckle Farm family – Bob “the butcher” Edwards. Bob has been in the butcher trade for fifty years and reckons he still learns something new every day. Bob grew up on a dairy near Wilberforce in NSW. Walking to school each day, Bob would pass the local butcher shop. When he was about to finish school at age 15, the shop’s owner offered him an apprenticeship – and he’s been in the meat game ever since!

Owning and operating a variety of small businesses over the years, Bob’s passion lies in preparing and presenting meat for customers so that they get the best eating experience. Bob’s biggest achievement to date was taking out the Cornetts’ Regional Award for Meat & Deli displays just 12 months after taking over a shop that was run down and not performing. He finds the most rewarding part of being a butcher is getting to know his customers, and delivering them the best service possible.

“The secret to success in butchery is to deliver quality meats with great service.”

Bob loves the Mackay region, and jumped at the chance to come back to the tropical north when offered a job with Freckle Farm. He believes people in regional areas are the friendliest, and he has made some great friends during previous stints in Middlemount, Tieri, Moranbah, Clermont and Mackay. Bob has been working hard with the Freckle Farm team to get the shop ready to open – and he’s very excited to be part of a true paddock to plate business.
